Jesus Olivares (+120KG) Achieves a Raw Squat of 463 Kilograms (1,020 Pounds) During Training for the 2024 Sheffield Championships
The all-time heavyweight raw total is 1,152.5 kilograms (2541 pounds) by Jesus Olivares. This historic total was set at the 2023 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. This performance featured the raw Deadlift world record of 410 kg (904 pounds) by the International Powerlifting Federation.
Olivares bench pressed more than 600 pounds and deadlifted 900 pounds in the 2023 Sheffield. He was awarded PS30,000 ($36,00) for his performance and guaranteed a place in the 2024 event.
Olivares posted a video on his Instagram account Oct. 30, 2023 in which he lifted 463 kilograms (1.020 pounds) of raw weight. To celebrate All Hallows’ Eve Olivares frightened 477.75 kilograms (1.053 pounds), the raw squat record set by Ray Williams.
Olivares used lifting strap, leg sleeves and wrist wrappings for his squat. All of these are legal for raw IPF competition. Olivares confidence is evident in his ability to squat such a heavy weight with just one spotter.
Olivares, a three-time IPF World Champion, popped the barbell out of the rack and placed it on his back. He then took three small steps and set his foot position to the optimal width. braced, then began his descent. It was slow, controlled and smooth with good positioning. The weight was heavy but he still ascended and descended at the same pace, indicating that he had some more energy left.
It is incredible that 463 kilograms (1.020 pounds), is not a personal record for Olivares. He had previously squatted 1,036 pounds (1,036 kilograms) at the Sheffield 2023. It is clear that he wants to break the raw squat record for +120 kilograms.
The next event for Olivares is the 2024 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, which will be held at City Hall, Sheffield, UK, on February 10, 2024. Olivares has three months to train before the event, and he is well-prepared to challenge a raw squat record that’s been standing for years.
